Athens, Georgia dream rock
John Moore (solo) www.facebook.com/missingstarmusic
When Lily Herne was 9 years-old she started making herself remember last night’s dreams. She wrote them down into a notebook that became a library that became a dreamrock repertoire.
Eventually her trio hatched two studio albums in Athens, Georgia under a relatively hidden genre, dreamrock, and originally under her name – which also happens to be the pen name of a mother/daughter writer duo. The band, now Dreamlily, dissolves the boundary between one world and the next, emulsifying English, Japanese, Welsh, Sanskrit, and Spanish into California Celtic psychedelic song-scapes.
With an early foundation as a Celtic session musician, Lily’s 12-string guitar is tuned to Ireland’s traditional tuning, but don’t expect to hear Irish music any more than you would wake up after a dream to find yourself suddenly at a brew pub in Galway. Dreamlily has performed for the President of Ireland, Atlanta’s Consul General of Japan, Van Halen’s ex-bodyguard, a blind radio host from France, and Wisconsin bear hunters. From Joshua Tree to Budapest, they go where tomorrow’s dream takes them. Next stop, Buffalo.
