Luis Mojica is an American pianist, performer, and composer who uses the piano and looping pedal to blend his wide vocal range with beat box pop melodies and baroque-style piano. His empathic songs tend to explore themes of androgyny, male identity, & spirituality.
His debut studio album, titled Wholesome, was released in July 2016. He toured the album with the cult famous avant-garde cello band Rasputina and sold out of the limited copies. He continued touring in Rasputina from 2014 – 2018.
In early 2018 he began recording How A Strange Is Made which released on October 4th, 2019 to critical acclaim. Production for the record included award winning producers Simone Felice (Bat For Lashes/The Lumineers), David Baron (Peter Murphy), & Justin Guip (Levon Helm).
“Having launched his musical career in NYC’s East Village and now based upstate in Woodstock, singer-songwriter Luis Mojica has been around on the scene – both as a solo artist and touring member of Rasputina…His songs blend his 3+ octave vocal range to create choir-like textures, as well as utilizing unusual character voices and harmonies that explore androgyny, spirituality, and unorthodox male identity.” – The Big Takeover
“From chamber pop to indie to a quasi-baroque style all bundled within the mind of a genius…Piano-based, his songs blend his 3+ octave vocal range to create choir-like textures, as well as utilizing unusual character voices and harmonies that explore androgyny, spirituality, and unorthodox male identity. Mojica’s music and sound esthetic is inspired by Leonard Cohen, Tori Amos, Patti Smith, Joanna Newsom, and Kate Bush.” – Jammerzine
